Community Celebration to Honor Mickey Shunick

INFO FROM NEWS ARTICLE: Friends and family of Mickey Shunick announced a Community Celebration to Honor Mickey Shunick. The public celebration takes place at Parc International on Saturday, Sept. 29 from noon to 5 p.m. The event is free. Beer and food will be available for purchase. A public art wall will be on display, and T-shirts with a new, celebratory graphic will be sold for the cost of printing.

Saturday's celebration will begin with friends sharing their memories of Shunick. City-Parish President Joey Durel will speak as well, and family and friends will recognize law enforcement officers, volunteers, donors, doctors, and members of the community who helped in the search effort for Shunick.

The event will also feature live performances from Whole Damn Town (at 1:30 p.m.), imagineIAM (at 2:30 p.m.), and Rareluth (at 3:45 p.m.). The celebration will conclude with a 5 p.m. public bike ride following the route Shunick took the morning of May 19th. That ride will conclude with the permanent placement of a ghost bike at the end of St. Landry St. as a tribute to Shunick.
